Closing Remarks

Produced by Deutschlandfunk
Part 12: My Composing Generation X
Featuring recordings by Samir Odeh-Tamimi, Jamilia Jazylbekova, Lisa Streich, Ying Wang, Sarah Nemtsov, Farzia Fallah and Eres Holz

Providing emerging musicians and composers with airtime, a public platform, and opportunities for artistic development has long been part of Deutschlandfunk’s tradition. With the rapid diversification of the recording-label landscape around the year 2000, it became a natural step to open the Deutschlandfunk Chamber Music Hall to the next generation of composers as well. Through CD co-productions, a new framework emerged in which selected young composers could be supported conceptually throughout their artistic development. At the same time, an editorial philosophy began to take shape that combined support with challenge and responsibility. In the final episode of the series, producer Frank Kämpfer reflects on his collaboration with seven composers, ranging from Samir Odeh-Tamimi, born in 1970, to Lisa Streich, born in 1985.

Atelier de Discos #3: «Holz, Trio Catch & NIMIKRY: Pluralidades explosivas»

[...] Se trata entonces de una gozosa ceremonia de la confusión interpretada con furia y, a la vez, se ha de insistir en ello, con una extrañísima musicalidad marca de la casa.

[...] Ultimately, it is an ecstatic ceremony of confusion—performed with fury but, it must be emphasized, with an unmistakable and uniquely original musicality that is distinctly Holz’s own.

In Times of War

New CDs of new music, presented by Dirk Wieschollek

Hardly any other composer currently reflects the horrors of the present as intensely as the Israeli-born composer Eres Holz. One will search in vain for superficial content or political messages. Everything existential is directly transformed by Holz into the sphere of sound and its articulations.

Composers and Their Audience in the Echo Chamber of War and Violence

„I think every human being must, in some way, bring humanity back into the discussion as a topic. And that, please, also in the contemporary music scene. We cannot continue isolating ourselves with experiments.“
